At NTSIS, our Middle School students benefit from a supportive environment in which to learn and grow during their developmental years. Whether relocating from another cities or country, transferring from neighborhood school or moving from up from our Primary School, they will have experiences to create long-lasting relationships and opportunities to discover themselves.
With our Middle School academic program, students develop intellectual, emotional, and physical development. We cultivate natural enthusiasm for learning that our Middle School’s students possess by challenging them through comprehensive academic system and providing numerous opportunities to explore a variety of interests through the offering various electives and activities. Our aim is to guide our students to become independent, globally aware and caring learners and citizens of the world. In addition to challenging our students to achieve their best, we also want them to enjoy learning.
At this level of learning, NTSIS Middle School program comprises six subject groups, implementing renowned systems of curricular programmes.
We believe the ability to communicate in a variety of modes, including in more than one language, is inevitable aspect to thrive in the 21st century in an increasingly globalized world. Learning two languages is a compulsory component of our Middle School students. Through rooting our curriculum based on the values of Singapore’s Bilingual Language programme, this created an integrated approach to six skill areas in the learning of languages such as listening, speaking, writing, reading, viewing and representing in a wide variety of contexts and for a range of purposes.
Our Mathematics framework encompasses number, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability. It aims to equip students with knowledge, understanding and capabilities to address further course in mathematics.
In this subject, students are encouraged to respect and understand the world them and equips them with the necessary skills to inquire into human environments, society and history. Students collect, describe and analyse data used in studies of societies, test hypotheses, and learn how to interpret complex information. This focus on real-world examples, research and analysis, which are essential aspects of the subject group.
Middle School science course includes biology, chemistry, and physic as well as environmental science, life science, health science, earth science and sport science. It encourages students to investigate questions through research, observation and experimentation, working independently and collaboratively.
Students develop through creating, performing and presenting arts in ways that engage and convey feelings, experiences and ideas. Through this practice, students acquire new skills and master those skills developed in prior learning. Student will have opportunities to be learners in arts both as artists and audience members.
Physical and health education empowers students to understand and appreciate the value of being physically active and to develop the motivation for making healthy life choices. Engaged in active learning, students learn to appreciate and respect the ideas of others and thus develop effective collaboration and communication skills. It offers many opportunities to build positive interpersonal relationships that develop a sense of social responsibility.
In Grade 7 to 9, the curriculum helps bridge the transition from the Primary School to prepare them with the skills needed for success in the rigorous IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or Cambridge GCE A Level course in Grades 11 and 12.
