On October 26, the first Faculty and Staff Sports Games of Nantong Development Zone was successfully held in the newly built Xinghu Primary School. Our school team is made up of both Chinese and foreign teaching and administrative staff. Under our fluttering school flag, dressed in uniforms and in high spirits, our team seemed to stand out more among the participating teams.
The brief opening ceremony was followed by a square-dance competition. Accompanied by the rhythm of music, each team demonstrated their spectacular and fascinating dancing skills, some dancing elegantly with brisk steps as if they were stepping on lotus flowers; Others dancing beautifully like flying swallows while some dancing as vigorous as eagles. The square dance of our school was cheerful and lively, free and unrestrained, combining the wildness of African tribes with the elegance of orient, which thrilled the audience and won the first place.
In the following events, the Chinese and foreign athletes of our school fought tenaciously and showed their passion and high spirit: Brett, a teacher from UK, who had given up participating in a Marathon being held in Singapore, ran with athletic grace in the 400-meter race and managed to cross the finish line first despite of strong competition.
Serena from Singapore, did not give up in despite of strong opponents, and persevered till the end of the race. Although she did not win the race, her perseverance was admirable.
How Xian Neng from Malaysia, Johnny from USA, Xu Jiawei and Zhang Tailei from China teamed up to compete in the 400-meter relay. They ran with unstoppable force, rushing to the finishing line like whirlwind.
Zhang Tailei, Wang Yamin, Qian Tianye and Wang Jiajun formed a team in the spirit of “striving together and forward”. They coordinated well and went all out and finally won the first place in spite of strong competitors. At this sports meeting, our school team’s unwillingness to yield, ever ready to challenge themselves, always striving ahead and never giving up, form the most beautiful scenary on the competition field!
