Roy Wu, Year 6 student in Nantong Stalford International School [NTSIS], represented the Nantong Equestrian Team in the 2022 National Equestrian Youth Championships on Feb 11, 2023. Roy, a 12 years old boy, won the team championship together with his horse “Zenobia” and three teammates because of their excellent and consistent performance. This is also the first national equestrian championship among Nantong players.

The National Youth Equestrian Championships is the highest level of junior equestrian events hosted by the Chinese Equestrian Association. It has attracted 71 teams including the Hong Kong team and 506 horses gathered in the arena.

Roy participated in the Junior B group competition with an 90cm high obstacle. On the field where speed and difficulty coexist, when Wu Rongyu faced the ingeniously designed route, he galloped against the wind calmly, and completed every leaping movement perfectly. In the end, he and his teammates won the team championship with a time of 168.23 seconds without any foul.

The guidance and immersive experience fascinated him and he fell in love with galloping on horseback.
