A day of sunshine on November 2nd, the 16th Sunshine Sports Festival of Middle & Primary Schools in Nantong Development Zone opened on the sports field of Orient Middle School. The flags of the 10 participating schools fluttered in the breeze and the school flag of Nantong Stalford International School was particularly eye-catching with the logo of a mighty lion, which well symbolizes the spirit of Stalford students: Always strive to be strong and never say die.

The opening ceremony was followed by sports dancing performances from each school. The orange-colored uniform of our school team looks exceptionally attractive in the sunshine. Their performance was vigorous and supple, brisk and joyful, just like flying clouds and flowing water, arousing warm applause from the entire audience.

In the subsequent competition events, all our school athletes were just like lions fighting hard against all their competitors on the sports field. On the runway, they raced ahead like a silver arrow, sprinting like a tiger attacking a wolf, unstoppable like a whirlwind, with a goal on their minds: run forward, forward and forward;

On the high jump field, they did not back up a little in front of the bar blocking ahead and flew over just as if they had wings. Even in cases of failed attempts they were not at all discouraged and willing to give up, re-standing at the starting line with their heads held high, jumping once again in the air like eagles spreading their wings in defiance of the insurmountable barrier. On the softball field, they were as well brave facing tall and powerful competitors. Teeth clenched and eyes wide open, they gave a smooth shot and the softball flew across the clear sky like a streak of lightening.

Although the athletes of our school are the least in number among the 10 participating teams, they were the most vigorous with the highest morale and their achievements are also the most impressive:

Xu Mingze of Grade 5 won the first place in  200m dash;  Zhao Jialin of Grade 5 won the second place in softball; Zhou Chen of Grade 7 won the fourth place in the men’s 1500 meters race; Cai Jingyou of Grade 8 won the third place in the 100 meter final;  The school team won the third place in the 4 * 100 relay of the middle school faculty.

At the Sunshine Sports Festival, our school athletes fully demonstrated their strong perseverance, fighting spirit and spirit of cooperation, therefore, making the lion on the school flag more powerful and glorious!
